Society stages humanitarian exhibition, bazaar By Fekadu Ethiopia Dr. Kebede Worku, FDRE State Minister for Health, officially opening the humanitarian exhibition and bazaar The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) staged a humanitarian exhibition and bazaar at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center in Addis Ababa from August 15 to 18, 2014. Dr. Kebede Worku, FDRE State Minister for Health, officially opening the humanitarian exhibition and bazaar that showcased the activities of various non-governmental organizations and humanitarians operating in Ethiopia said that a wide and diversified involvement of participants on such events is extremely important to reinforce partnerships and further the humanitarian service throughout the country. He also called upon the exhibitors and other participants to employ such opportunities to further develop and strengthen various integrated humanitarian initiatives that respond to aspirations and expectations of many people in the country. Addressing participants of the exhibition and bazaar opening ceremony, board president Dr. Ahmed Reja, mentioned the effective response of the Society to manmade and natural disasters in the past eight decades. He recalled that the Society, throughout its long history had undertaken a number of initiatives to create platforms that humanitarians, charitable organizations and societies meet and share experiences of each other. According to Dr. Ahmed, the Societys initiatives to prepare such events dates back to the 1950s when colossal events that brought the international community residing in Ethiopia together. Dr. Ahmed has called upon the public to support the efforts to meet its financial, material and other need further strength its services. On the occasion, side events such as colloquium and policy discourse on system and community resilience on challenges and prospects for changes and transformation in Ethiopia as well as award handing over ceremony for children and youngsters who won the humanitarian art competition took place.
