Ethiopian Red Cross Society Signs Memorandum Of Understanding With International Committee Of The Red Cross

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC) for the activities to be undertaken collaboratively in the year 2017, January 20, 2017,ERCS training center.
After signing the MoU which is an integral part of ERCS-ICRC Partnership Framework Agreement 2015 to 2017, Frehiwot Worku, Secretary General of ERCS, stated that ICRC has been partnering with the ERCS for long and has played a great role particularly in the area of strategic development and capacity building.
The Secretary General added it is important for ICRC and ERCS to stand together as a movement to properly serve the Ethiopian community. Without collaborative effort, we all are small entities that would not make significant impact, she added. The Secretary General also expressed her anticipation for strategic partnership with ICRC for the coming three years.
James Reynolds, the Head of Delegation of the ICRC on his part said, ERCS has to consider partnership not as an option but as an obligation. The ERCS-ICRC joint program aimed to strengthen the ERCS capacity towards responding to emergencies, restoring family links, and promotion of Red Cross knowledge, fundamental principles, and international humanitarian law.
It was learned that the Memorandum of Understanding is a document which will come into effect on January 2017and end by December 31, 2017.
