ERCS Honors Coalition for Humanity, Awash Bank & Awash Insurance S.C

Ethiopian Red Cross Society recognizes Coalition for Humanity and Awash Bank and Awash Insurance S.C for their contributions for humanity.

Coalition for Humanity has recently mobilized 15 million birr worth food and non-food items and distributed for conflict and natural disaster affected people in Amhara, Oromiya, Diredawa, Harari and Addis Ababa while Awash Bank and Awash Insurance S.C donated 5 million birr to the ERCS.

During the recognition ceremony that took place at the Society’s Training Center, Secretary General of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society Meshesha Shewarega (PhD) said such acts of kindness and solidarity are exemplary and have to be imparted.

The Secretary General reassured ERCS’s commitment to support such good will initiatives and reiterated readiness to sign Memorandum of Understanding with the Coalition with a view to institutionalize cooperation.

In addition to encouraging such efforts, the recognition is also meant to inspire others to join the humanitarian sphere which in turn strengthens domestic resource mobilization, emergency response & self-reliance.

Chair of Coalition for Humanity Artist Yared Shumete expressed gratitude over the recognition saying it would give them an extra caliber for more works in the humanitarian arena.

Awash Bank Representative Hailu W/Gebriel said that Awash Bank & Awash Insurance S.C donated 20 million birr this year and ERCS is among the institutions to receive the donation. Hailu says the bank would continue to support humanitarian initiatives with the resources at their disposal.
